The Tracker is Chevrolet's entry in the popular mini-SUV segment. Built in Ontario, Canada, alongside its twin, the Suzuki Vitara, it began life as a Geo Tracker back in the early '90s but officially became part of the Chevrolet lineup in 1998 after the Geo brand was phased out. It was strictly a two-door convertible model up until 1996 when a more traditional four-door hardtop was introduced. A fully redesigned model was introduced in 1999 that gave the Tracker a new look, a larger size and better interior ergonomics. Unlike its Suzuki Vitara twin, the Tracker didn't get V6 power until 2001. When it was introduced, the Tracker had few competitors, allowing it to get by with a spartan interior and minimal features.
